Diane Passafiume
Artists Statement
“Through my art, I invite others to appreciate the fleeting beauty of nature, offering a window into the dynamic energy of flowers and the landscapes they inhabit.”
Diane grew up in Ajax, a small wartime town, where art quickly became a favourite subject during her elementary school years. Her father, recognizing her natural talent for drawing, encouraged her by supplying her with a lined notepad and an HB yellow pencil borrowed from his workplace. This support sparked Diane’s first foray into sketching, as she ventured off into quiet fields to capture the beauty of her surroundings.
As life became busier with a move to another town, a career in teaching, and eventually raising a large family on a bustling farm, Diane's sketching took a back seat. However, when the opportunity to join the Lemonville Group of Artists presented itself, her passion for art was reignited.
Today, Diane works primarily in watercolour, finding endless inspiration in the delicate forms and vibrant colours of flowers and nature. Her love for gardening and the natural world infuses her work, with each brushstroke capturing the essence of a garden in bloom.
