Nicky Slovitt
Nicky is thrilled to join the Lemonville Group of Artists!
She is a mixed media artist who loves to draw, watercolour and use acrylics in her work.
Since the age of four, when she first painted a mural on her grandparents’ kitchen wall, she knew art was in her soul. She excelled in art through school and was offered an apprenticeship with a local graphic designer painting wallpaper designs as a teenager. Realizing creating art can be a tough way to make a living, she studied to become a nurse.
For the next number of decades, Nicky raised her beautiful family and cared for countless people including some of societies’ most vulnerable. Interspersed with nursing,
Nicky has studied at Haliburton School of the Arts, Latham Art Centre in Stouffville and at Cedar Ridge Creative Centre in Scarborough. In addition, she has studied with Alan Li, an artist responsible for successfully launching Toronto Nature Sketch program – an initiative of the Canadian artist Robert Bateman. Nicky’s art has been on display a number of times as part of the Highlands East Studio Tour.
Now in retirement from her nursing career, she’s able to devote more time to her passion for creating art.
